Fog

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbour and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

…except that it’s not. Anyone who’s been trying to fly out of the airports in Southern UK this week has had a nasty surprise – most domestic and many other flights have been cancelled because of the persistent heavy fog. Apparently, it’s been hanging around because of a high pressure system that’s keeping everything pinned down, and the sun isn’t warm enough to generate air currents, so there’s been no wind either…  Hopefully all will be well for Tuesday when we are due to fly to Canada…
